Suffolk Running Centre - 2019
I'm here to help
Organising multi day marathons for more than 10 years with more than 10 fantastic rural routes all starting and finishing from our base!
Previously The Great Barrow Challenge now Suffolk Running Centre (because everyone knows where Suffolk is!) we still offer a challenge. Suffolk is not as flat as you might think but is as beautiful with variety from the small country lanes to a deer farm to the Newmarket gallops to farmland and quaint country villages. You will follow our abundance of signage or the downloadable gpx files.
Our team include a timekeeper, roving marshals, an emergency medic, course director and race director, all of whom aim to give you the very best experience whether this is your first event or you are a regular who has become more like family!
You will find water along the route - bring your own cup or bottle. At the finish you will get a snack bag and your bespoke medal.
Our current series of medals are all based around the routes we are using.
Collect 10 to complete a series and get the centre piece to complete a collection.
In normal times your results will be live on our website
- during the pandemic we have staggered starts and results are adjusted manually so please allow til the end of the day for the results to be corrected.
We are located just a mile from the A14 between Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds. Parking is on site and free. Signs will guide you in.
Toilets are available at the start and the finish.
We have strict rules in place for everyone's safety
- Staggered start times for small group starts usually between 5 and 10 at a time
- One way system for check in and toilets
- No food at checkpoints. Snack pack at end is prepared in advance and items are in wrappers
- Masks must be worn inside
- Runners must carry hand sanitiser, mobile phone, water and mask
Should an event be cancelled, or you are unable to run due to Covid 19, you will receive a credit to use within 6 months
